What is a lake point?
A LAKE POINT s a location where the bottom is shallower than the surrounding area. These are usually triangular but can be rounded or obtuse. They are usually created by sediment carried by creeks or the current. They can be found at the mouths of creeks or smaller tributaries as well as anywhere that the land juts out into the lake. They can be steep with sharp drop offs or they can extend several hundred yards into the lake. Points are usually a great place to find predatory fish. Points that jut out into the main body of water are referred to as "Main Lake Points" and the points in the major creek arms made from the convergence with smaller tributaries are known as "Secondary Points".
