Point Your "Trigger" Finger!
Just a quick tip that could save the day! I've posted a tip before on just how important it is to always manually close the bail after a cast with a spinning reel. But also remember to extend your index (pointer) finger out and down towards the line on your first few turns of the reel. You should feel the line ticking the end of your finger tip as it is going back onto the spool. This little maneuver will ensure that your line starts out tight on the spool. And along with manually closing the bail instead of winding it closed, will almost guarantee that you will be able to fish all day and not have it ruined by a horrific backlash! Our Mission is to Get You Fishing! And this tip will help keep you out there!
Extend your "trigger" finger towards the rod on the first few turns of the reel handle after each cast and NEVER wind the bail closed!
