Remembering 9/11 #NEVERFORGET
YES! I REMEMBER! I remember standing beside my mother as she sat in front of her computer when I saw it on the television. I remember the tears barrelling down my face as I watched my brothers and sisters responding to their last call. I remember my legs trembling to the extent that I just knew I was going to fall down. I remember thinking that how was any of this possible in my world of which I was heading to play in a charity golf tournament and I remember that I NEEDED to ...leave for New York right then instead!
Just like all of us, I remember all of the minute details of that day and it's because of the impact that horrible event made upon us all. Just like the impact I remember of seeing a person shot for the first time, I remember the first time I saw a dead body and I remember the faces of every child that has been gravely injured or died in front of me. I remember the first baby I delivered, the first life I helped save and the name of the three year old boy that I held for three hours after his mother accidentally ran over and killed his father while under their RV camper trying to repair it. I remember the first time everything went just right and the first of many times everything went horribly wrong! Yes again, l remember 9/11 and as a member of the Public Safety family, I appreciate the acknowledgement every time we roll around to this time of year. But, I also remember just how awesome the honor is just to be a part of such a wonderful family in Public Safety. These are truly some amazing people of which I have the pleasure of working with every week! So what I'm getting at is, I want you to remember these people more than just when September 11 rolls around. They are putting on the polyester and putting it on the line everyday! Remember those that have vowed to respond to you in your time of need because I can promise you one thing...... If whatever it is that has happened to you is absolutely horrible and mind blowing....... Those responding to your aid will NEVER forget you!
